While 11 film locations permits were authorized through the BLM in April, 34 permits were closed over the same month. This is a increase of 10 permits as opposed to April 2015 when there were 24 closed permits. 29,289 acres were released with these 34 closed permits. This is 22,684.37 more acres released in April compared to the 6,605 released in the same month in 2015.

California, Nevada, and New Mexico are the three most active states when ranked by total authorized filming permits on public land overseen by the BLM. California is the most active state with 154 authorized permits, accounting for 76.62% of the overall filming permits in the United States. This is 142 more permits than Nevada, the second most active state, which hosts 12 filming permits and accounts for 5.97% of the overall filming permits in the United States. New Mexico has 2 fewer permit than Nevada, making it the third most active state, with 10 filming permits—5.97% of the authorized filming permits overseen by the BLM.

Utah, California, and Nevada had the most closed BLM film locations permits over the course of April 2016. Utah is distinguished by its 21 closed permits, the most closed that month and 8 more than April 2016. This is 13 more permits than California, which lost 8 film locations permits—an increase of 6 permits from last April. Nevada jettisoned 5 fewer permits than California. The 3 filming permits closed in Nevada are 1 fewer than April last year.

Grand, San Juan, and Imperial counties had the most closed BLM film locations permits over the course of April 2016. Grand County, Utah is distinguished by its 17 closed permits, the most closed that month and 10 more than April 2015. This is 10 more permits than San Juan County, Utah, which lost 7 film locations permits—an increase of 6 permits from last April. Imperial County, California jettisoned 1 fewer permits than San Juan. The 6 filming permits closed in Imperial County are 6 more than April last year.
